  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two greased round baking pans.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually add wet ingredients to dry ingredients while stirring; then mix in boiling water until smooth.
  5. Pour batter evenly into prepared pans and bake for about 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool.
  6. For the strawberry filling, cook chopped strawberries with sugar and lemon juice until soft; thicken with cornstarch mixture.
  7. Prepare ganache by pouring hot cream over chopped chocolate; stir until smooth.
