  • 1 cup breadcrumbs

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until combined. Press into the baking dish.
  3. Spread barbecue sauce over the meatloaf layer and bake for 25 minutes.
  4. Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  5. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour. Gradually add milk until thickened. Stir in cheddar cheese until smooth.
  6. Fold cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce and spread over the meatloaf layer.
  7. Bake for an additional 15–20 minutes until golden brown. Let rest before serving.
