Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 1 medium onion
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 2 slices bread
- ½ cup milk
- ½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1.5 tsp cinnamon
- 1.5 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 15oz cans tomato sauce or crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup red apple vinegar
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- Sugar, to taste
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Soak bread in milk and combine with ground beef, onion, garlic, parsley, eggs, and spices in a mixing bowl. Mix gently and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Shape into oblong meatballs and brown them in a skillet over medium-high heat until cooked on all sides.
- Sauté onions and garlic in the same skillet before adding tomato sauce and seasonings.
- Return meatballs to the skillet, allowing them to simmer in the sauce for about 15 minutes.
- Serve hot with rice or bread.
