  • 4 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef; drain excess fat.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper; mix well.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, followed by half of the cooked beef and onion; pour half of the sauce over this layer.
  5. Repeat the layers with remaining ingredients.
  6. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and mix breadcrumbs with melted butter; sprinkle over cheese.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes or until golden brown.
