Description

Italian Lemon Jam is a vibrant and zesty spread that brings a burst of sunshine to your breakfast table. This simple homemade jam, made with fresh lemons and just a few ingredients, is perfect for enhancing toast, scones, or yogurt. Its refreshing flavor and bright color make it an ideal addition to any meal or dessert. Whether enjoyed at home or gifted in beautifully packaged jars, this Italian Lemon Jam is sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large lemons
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by thoroughly washing and drying the lemons. Zest them using a zester, then juice the lemons, discarding any seeds.
  2. In a pot, combine the lemon juice, zest, sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, reduce to low and simmer for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
  4. To check if the jam is ready, place a small amount on a cold plate; if it gels after cooling briefly, it’s done.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly before pouring into sterilized jars. Seal tightly and allow to cool completely before storage.
