Description

Earthquake Cake is a show-stopping dessert that combines rich chocolate cake with a creamy, gooey cream cheese center, topped with coconut flakes and optional nuts. Each slice offers an explosion of flavors and textures, making it perfect for family gatherings or casual weeknight indulgences.


Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a large rectangular baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil, and water until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, combine softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until creamy.
  4. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared baking dish. Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture on top and sprinkle with coconut flakes. Pour the remaining batter over everything.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Allow cooling slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
