  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

  • 1 cup raisins
  • 3 to 3.5 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by mixing warm water and sugar, then sprinkle yeast on top. Let it foam for about 5 minutes.
  2. Combine warm milk, melted butter, and vanilla in the yeast mixture.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients.
  4. Add raisins and knead the dough until smooth (8-10 minutes).
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel until doubled (about 1 hour).
  6. Shape dough into balls and place on a lined baking sheet. Let rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for approximately 22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Allow to cool before icing with a simple mixture of powdered sugar and water.
