  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 120ml vegetable oil
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 45g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • tsp baking soda
  • tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 oz German sweet chocolate
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 113g unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 ½ cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325F (163C) and prepare your bundt or tube pan.
  2. In a bowl, cream together softened butter, sugar, and vegetable oil until fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time followed by vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the batter with alternating buttermilk.
  6. Fold in melted German chocolate until well blended.
  7. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 75-85 minutes.
  8. Cool before frosting with the coconut-pecan mixture made from evaporated milk, sugar, egg yolks, butter, coconut, and pecans.
