Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1/2 box red velvet cake mix
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Blue food coloring
  • 3 packages Pop Rocks candy
  • Black licorice ropes
  • White frosting (less than 1/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Prepare red velvet cake batter according to package directions, adding sour cream.
  3. Prepare white cake batter as directed, adding sour cream and blue food coloring to half.
  4. Bake the layered cakes in greased 9-inch pans for 18-23 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  5. Cool cakes completely; cut circles from each layer and hollow out their centers.
  6. Stack layers with frosting between each color; fill with Pop Rocks and replace tops.
