  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese (preferably buffalo mozzarella)
  • 4 ripe tomatoes (heirloom or vine-ripened)
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients: mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Slice the tomatoes into thick rounds (about ½ inch).
  3. Cut or tear the mozzarella into rounds similar in size to the tomatoes.
