Ingredients
- 5–6 firm apples (Golden Delicious or Braeburn)
- 100 g unsalted butter
- 120 g granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Peel, core, and quarter the apples.
- In a cast iron skillet or Tarte Tatin pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add sugar. Cook until it turns golden caramel color; stir in vanilla extract and salt.
- Arrange the apple quarters tightly cut-side up in the caramel and cook over low heat for 10–15 minutes.

- Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes before inverting onto a plate.
