  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 14 tablespoons unsalted butter (cut into pieces)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the apple filling by melting butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add apples, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, water, and salt. Cook until apples soften (5-7 minutes).
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Blend in cut butter until crumbly.
  3. Press half of the oat mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Spread apple filling on top and sprinkle remaining oat mixture.
  4. Bake for about 50 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling before slicing into bars.
