  • 3 green onions (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (minced)
  • 4 cups chicken/beef/vegetable broth
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 12 oz wontons
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • Chili oil (homemade or store-bought)

Instructions

  1. To make the chili oil, mix red pepper flakes, sesame seeds, minced garlic, minced ginger, sugar, salt, and optional cinnamon stick in a heat-safe bowl. Heat neutral oil until hot and pour it over the mixture. Stir and set aside.
  2. In a large pot over medium heat, melt coconut oil. Sauté the white and light green parts of green onions with minced ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the broth, bring to a bubble, then lower heat to simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add wontons along with soy sauce and optional rice vinegar. Simmer until heated through.
  5. Serve the soup garnished with dark green onion tops and drizzle generously with chili oil.
